Jim Houston, the 'Shootin Iron' Parson, travels along with his wife Mary and daughter Alice to the rough and tumble frontier town of Barren Gulch. There he plans to build a church and enrich the souls of the town's inhabitants, even despite the Sheriff 'Birdshot' Bivens warning that Barren Gulch isn't much of preaching town.
But trouble is brewing for while Jim is building his church the local saloon owner Doc Hardy is pursuing Jim's wife Mary.
