Commissioned to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the October Revolution, The End of St. Petersburg became Vsevolod Pudovkin's most famous montage film.

A young peasant goes to St. Petersburg to find work, but finds himself first in trouble and then drafted into the army. After witnessing the horrors of war, he returns hardened and ready for revolution.
